BIOGRAPHY
An
artist and an evangelist, Rick Alonzo devoted his life to God’s service
in 1992. Rick’s unique and inspiring presentations feature him painting
pictures that symbolize Christ’s love. Set to contemporary music, Rick
incorporates martial arts and gymnastics to demonstrate the power and
grace inherent in God’s Word. Using his hands and feet, and the love of
the Lord that’s on fire in his heart, Rick illustrates the Gospel and
shares a message of hope for a lost and dying world.
Born
in the Philippines, Rick came to live in the United States at the age
of 12. After studying art from Long Beach State University , Rick
returned to his home in Fresno where he worked for a non-profit
organization as their art director, teaching gymnastics and martial
arts. It was during this time that Rick began to feel that something was
missing in his life. While humbly seeking the Lord’s will for his
future, Rick clearly heard God tell him that he was to use his artistic
gifts to reach the world for Him.
For
the past 18 years, Rick has traveled around the world preaching the
Gospel wherever he feels the Lord leading him. He is as content
performing in front of a small church congregation as he is in an arena
filled with 40,000 people.
He
has spoken at youth pastor conventions, camps and conferences, and for
various youth groups. He has ministered through street evangelism,
church services, Christian school assemblies, and television
programming, including TBN's Leon Patillo Show and other cable
programs. He has been invited to speak and perform for Franklin Graham
Crusades. Josh McDowell, Sandi Patti, as well as teachers, principals,
pastors and Christian leaders across the nation have endorsed Rick’s
ministry. He has shared stage with Christian artists such as the News
Boys, Audio Adrenaline, Chris Tomlin and Jaci Velasquez.
Rick
has been privileged to perform in the secular arena as well. In public
school assemblies, he shares words of hope, love and racial
reconciliation. He has visited juvenile halls to counsel hurting youth.
Rick has also taken part in Special Olympics ceremonies, half-time
shows, casinos, various festivals, prisons and special programs at
shopping malls.
Throughout
his career, Rick has completed over 10,000 paintings, and his artwork
is displayed in homes and churches across the globe.
In
addition to his artistic training, Rick is also a perpetual Bible
student, committed to using God’s Word faithfully in his presentations.
He studied the Bible verse by verse with Worldwide Ministry, and
completed a five-year equivalent training program in ministry/theology
through Campus Crusade for Christ.
Rick
resides in Central California with his wife, Michelle; daughter, Faith;
and sons Gideon, Jaron, and Jude. His full-time job is as the president
of Rick Alonzo Ministries, a non-profit organization committed to
evangelism utilizing the arts . In his spare time, he volunteers
teaching art and self defense to children.
In
the near future, Rick hopes to open an art ministry school where he can
train his students to use the artistic gifts God has given them so
communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a world in need of his message
of love and salvation.
